The start of the original hospitality, "Stanami", was built in 1917,
by Stan and Ami Pierpoint. Stanami was one of only a few place in town that
had<br>
water access. The well in the back yard is still used to water the Restaurant's
gardens. The Pompetti family immigrated to Australia from Italy in 1968 from
Reramo. Basilio and Domenica worked on local farms for years. Long hour days
and working in a hotel at night to make ends meet.<br>
<br>
Anna Pompetti, the founder, established the restaurant with the backing of her
family when she was in Year 11, at the age of sixteen. Anna now lives in Italy,
she is married with three children. Annas restaurant was established in 1981.
In 1985 the building was moved to its current position, transforming the family
home into Annas. Annas restaurant became a member of Restaurant and Catering
Queensland in 1995, winning many prestigious awards, including the highly prized
regional award HOUSE of HOSPITALITY in 1997 and 1999.The business is currently
run by Mother and Son, Domenica and Don Pompetti.<br>
