The start of the “original” hospitality in Stanthopre, Stanami, as it was known, was built in 1917 by Stan & Amy Pierpoint. Stanami was one of only a hand full of places in town with water access. The well in the back yard is still used to maintain the restaurant’s gardens. The Pompetti family immigrated to Australian in 1968 from Reramo, Italy. Basilio & Domenica worked on local farms in the area for many years. Long hour days then working in a hotel at night to make ends meet.

Anna Pompetti, the founder, established the restaurant with the backing of her family when she was in year 11 at a tender age of 16. Anna now lives in Italy married with 3 children.
Anna’s restaurant was established in 1981. In 1985 the building was moved to its current location, transforming the family home into a restaurant.
Anna’s restaurant became a member of Restaurant & Catering Queensland in 1995, winning many prestigious awards including the high regional House of Hospitality on 2 occasions in 1997 and 1999.
